The main objective of the proposed project is to:

Enable registered students in universities within the Eastern and Southern Africa countries to carry out research on different aspects of ICTs and development. Specifically, this project seeks to obtain a grant to enable registered Masters students to carry out research in ICTs and development in universities in the ESARO region. The grant will sponsor Masters students and enable registered Ph.D. students who do not have any funding for their field work to carry out their field work.

The key objectives of this proposed project are therefore to seek funds to:

(a) Build institutional research capacity on ICTs and development in the various universities in the region. This will enable us to create knowledge
on the relationships between ICTs and development and the associated impacts.

(b) Build human capacity on ICTs and development in the region.
(c) Provide support to weakly funded postgraduate programs on ICTs and development in the region.
(d) Increase intra-Africa partnerships and collaborations. As shown in Table 1 above, Unversity of Nairobi has limited relationships with other
African countries in comparison to Europe and North America. This project would assist in building up these relationships.
